How to Lose 15 Pounds in 3 Weeks Without Working Out

Is it really possible to lose weight without a workout plan? Yes! Absolutely. I was able to lose 15 pounds in 3 weeks without doing any workouts at all.

The two key factors in weight loss are, of course, diet and exercise. But do you have to do both?

It can be really hard to get into a workout routine, especially if you’re out of shape and haven’t worked out in a long time. But if I can do it, so can you! You can lose 15 pounds in just 3 weeks — without a workout plan!

The only exercise I did was a 30 minute walk each day. Not even a power walk. Just a regular old walk.

How was I able to do this? By following Avocadu’s 21 Day Fat Loss Challenge.

What’s the 21 Day Challenge?

The 21 Day Challenge is designed to help you lose weight fast. It includes a specific and strict diet plan — that’s why it’s called a challenge! — as well as daily walks and a dose of apple cider vinegar. The plan does include a workout routine, but it’s OPTIONAL, and I opted not to do it. The plan promises to help you lose 10-21 pounds in 21 days, so I was pretty much right in the middle with my 15lb loss. Two great things about this plan is that A) It only lasts 3 weeks, which makes it easier to stick with, and B) you can repeat the 3 week program whenever you want, in case you want to lose more than 21 pounds.

Does it really work? Is it hard to follow?

I completed a full round of the challenge and lost 15 pounds. That’s 5 pounds a week – more than double the 2 pounds per week that most weight loss plans provide.

The plan involves a couple of days of fasting and a couple of days of eating veggies only. The fasting wasn’t really a problem for me, but the veggie days were super hard! Those were the days I had to remind myself that they don’t call it a challenge for nothing, and also remind myself not to squander all the effort I had already put in.

I wasn’t sure how I would feel about drinking ACV every day, but I actually loved it! It kind of feels like drinking kombucha, which I used to hate but have since acquired a taste for. Oakland happened to be in the middle of a heat wave when I was doing this challenge, so I was really loving the iced and slightly carbonated “kombucha” over ice every day.

Avocadu’s system was very clear to follow. They provide an e-book which has a checklist and dietary guide for every single day of the challenge. If you just do what it says, the weight will come off.

I will say that the first few days were difficult. As my body tried to adjust to a new way of eating, I felt tired, deprived, and got a couple of bad headaches. But by day 4, I started to rebound. By day 5 or 6, I started to feel great! I felt I had tons of energy and like I had been giving my body much needed clean fuel.

By day 4, I was no longer feeling deprived – I felt too full! The plan tells you how much to eat of different nutrients, and I found myself having a hard time eating everything required.

By day 5 all my symptoms were gone and I felt unstoppable! These good feelings continued until about 2/3 of the way through, when I had to fast again. I ended up ending my fast slightly early – only by about an hour and a half. I tried to follow the program to a T, but it’s most important to listen to your body, and mine was telling me I needed FUD now! I also missed my walk one day out of the program, but I would say I followed the program about 95%. I did my best, but I’m not perfect!

Is it worth it?

I will say that it definitely took a lot of mental energy to plan out everything I was going to eat each day, which made me less able to focus on and accomplish other things. It’s probably not a good idea to do this when you have a major project to prep for, or if you’re too busy to run to the store every few days and cook your meals.However, in exchange for losing 5 lbs per week, and knowing it would only last 3 weeks, I think it was definitely worth it.

By the beginning of the third week of the challenge, I was definitely feeling constrained, and I had to power through it.  But, again, that’s why it’s called a challenge! It was rewarding to try and test myself to see if I could do one more week and resist giving in. I always give in. Especially to treats. Yes, I had to decline offers of delicious food, drinks, and treats from friends, multiple times. Yes, it was a little awkward having to explain my diet program to them. But I wanted to prove to myself that I could do it, and I did! I feel proud of myself for exercising my self-control muscle.

I did hit a sort of weight loss plateau during the program, and had to modify the diet a bit, but the program tells you how to do this! I solved the problem within a matter of days.

One thing I loved about this program is that I had no food waste at all! How AWESOME! I have made it a point to try and minimize my food waste as much as possible, and following this program actually brought it down to zero for 3 weeks because I was shopping so intentionally for what I was going to eat in the next few days. I’m very happy about that.

Avocadu’s 21 Day Fat Loss Challenge is definitely appropriately named — it’s a challenge. But it’s a great way to get a jump start on your weight loss. Kickstarting your weight loss is great for building motivation, and it can also make it easier to get back into an exercise routine after the challenge if you’re 10-20 lbs lighter!
